Breathing new life into the Trojan Horse : 15- 26 September 2009

City of Dreams - Constantinople

Istanbul is one of THE great cities of the world. It was the Roman port of Byzantium, then Constantinople, capital of the fabulously wealthy Byzantine Empire. For a further 400 years, Istanbul was capital of the Ottoman Empire, the Sublime Porte. In Suleyman the Magnificent's time it outshone its predecessors.

Breathing life into the Trojan Horse

After a full visit, we drive to the Hellespont and the legendary remains of Troy. New excavations have revealed much more of the city and its vast defences. We shall visit the site, then explore other major sites of the Aegean such as Assos, Pergamum and Smyrna and Miletus, so many of which trace their own foundation to heroes returning from the Trojan Wars.

The Comfort of a Private Cruise

After travelling by land, we join our own yachts to cruise from near Ephesus along the Aegean Coast. These bays and inlets preserve some of the world's most picturesque classical sites. Our yachts are fitted with the most modern conveniences – private bathrooms with every double / twin cabin; our own chefs to prepare the excellent Turkish cuisine and our own stewards to wait on our every need. It’s a perfect way to relax, and to absorb the ambience of the epic past.
