Rain Forests & Elephants
We are delighted to offer a first ever journey for Alumni to the exotic island of Borneo. This incredibly lush forested region, criss-crossed with rivers and punctuated with sheltered valleys, is one of the most untouched wildlife habitats in Asia, and home to an amazing diversity of life, including orangutans, probiscus monkeys, pygmy elephants and elusive leopards, and an incredible array of birds.
Kuching & the Head Hunters
We start in the charming city of Kuching and go in search of probiscus monkeys and the150 species of birds found at Bako National Park. Then, on to Batang Ai, a beautiful reservoir surrounded by dense jungle, and home to the remote villages of the Iban people. Experience longhouse living (in comfort) and learn about the ancient culture of these former headhunters.
Orangs & Monkeys
Fly to Sabah,to visit theNational Park overlooked by the soaring peak of Mt Kinabalu, a botanical haven with pitcher plants, the giant Raffelsia flower and 1000 species of orchids. Then on to Sepilok, renowned for its rehabilitation of threatened orangutans. Our final highlight is the Kinabatangan River. Navigating the backwaters by boat, we go in search of the critically endangered Pygmy Elephant, as well as macaques, probiscus monkeys and scores of tropical birds.
