Burgundy
For 2006 we have reinstated the ever popular barge cruise,
this one through Central Burgundy. We have exclusively chartered
a luxury hotel barge which will take our party of no more
than 20 people along the Burgundy Canal. Built at the end
of the 18th century the canal connected the Mediterranean
via the Saône to the Paris Basin.
Sybaritic Barging
The experience is a sybaritic mix of elegant wines
and the superb cuisine of Bourgogne, together with a programme
of escorted visits to the Mediaeval sites of northern Burgundy,
all in the intimate atmosphere of our own floating hotel.
Medieval wonders
We visit the Hospice de Beaune, the finest Burgundian -Flemish
architecture in existence. Also visit the Château de
Commarin and the mediaeval
village of Châteauneuf en Auxois. Further along the
journey we see the Abbey of La Bussiére.
Fabulous wineries
We also add visits to the fabulous vineyards of the Côte-d'Or
where the Chardonnay grapes of Mersault and Beaune vie with
the Pinot Noirs of Nuits St George and Gevrey Chambertin to
produce the most luscious vintages in the world.
